I was out east Friday so I swung by Redington to get hike in. While passing the Tanque Verde trailhead, I thought abut the fact that I hadn't been down there in a while and swung down. There was plenty of water in the stream and pools and the trail has had recent maintenance. Lots and lots of gnats and flies, however. I forgot how short and easy it is so I darted up a canyon wall and headed to the south ridge above the falls to a small hill that overlooks the Rincons and the entire canyon. It was a fun little bushwhack. After heading down a spillway I had passed earlier, I strolled down river a ways and found an old, unmarked trail that climbs out of the river and back to Redington near the FS boundary.
