I believe that is the trail for Pickaxe Canyon? Once on the saddle, we followed the ridgeline area to a chute I have used in the past to access the canyon. I think a track from Cannondale Kid is where I found it. Once in the canyon, we followed it back to the parking area.
We thought about hiking up to see the double arches, but the clouds were looking pretty mean and nasty and we could feel a drop or two of rain as well. So, we opted to return back to the trailhead and hit the arches another day. A wise decision as it started to rain almost as soon as we got to the truck.
This area is really awesome. I will explore more in here for sure. The canyon itself is very interesting, as are the surrounding buttes and peaks.
A great way to end 2018! |
