| no partners | | No one else seemed interested in hiking this and the snow was about as good as it gets from reported totals. I figured with it being more than 2 years since a winter snowshoe hike, I would go for it. Still got it.
The snow is pretty good, but there has been a lot of traffic, mostly ski and board. What can I say? I've done this a lot, it certainly isn't rare or new, just something I enjoy doing from time to time. The cold wind definitely presents the biggest challenge for me. Not just my face from the wind on the ridge top, but my chest from hiking up in the cold dry air. It makes it interesting and different, however. No crowded summits!
Clouds gave way to sun, and it was really nice overall. I was up and down in a respectable way, just 90 minutes down. Crampons sped up descent from the summit to the bomber wreck. I remembered to bring those from last time.
