| partners | | We started about 2 miles upstream of the normal Maxwell Tank start, using the unmarked Forest Service road immediately south of Harris Park which heads south and east past Dozer Tank and out to the rim (turn off of FR81E just north of the rocky knob marked 6858 on the 7.5 topo). A short stretch of moderate scrambling dropped us down nicely to the valley floor, with the added bonus that a short distance down-canyon is a fantastic arch in the right wall (see photos). The swims looked to be difficult / dangerous to try and bypass and were not unpleasant with shortie wetsuits. Further down as the flowing creek forms, the unbelievably lush, green valley twists and turns through one amazing vista after another. A true gem! |
