|Since I'm sick and can't hike I'm gonna post this now. I've had a very bad cold for a week But I'm enjoying everyone's reports and photos in lieu of not being able to do anything.|
264 nautical miles. But first, let me give you a quick run down of this Arizona Highways Photo Workshop. The main reason it was so great is all of the places we got to see and variety of topics we got to shoot. I just put up a few pictures from each day's shoot. I would like to encourage you, if you have the opportunity, to participate in a Workshop. I have found it a great way to really absorb an area. They take care of everything, you just have to show up with your camera. In this case there was limited hiking involved but you keep pretty active for a lot of the time moving from place to place.
In the air video [ youtube video ] feel free to help me ID places by using the time mark. We have quite a few more zoomed shots too.
Day One: Cabrillo National Monument, Point Rosecrans National Cemetery
Videos include Old Point Loma Lighthouse [ youtube video ]
Cabrillo National Monument and near tide pools [ youtube video ]
Ocean Beach Surfing USA [ youtube video ] and
Ocean Beach featuring the Bubbleman [ youtube video ]
Day Two: North San Diego Bay and Balboa Park [ youtube video ] and
[ youtube video ] So much more to see at Balboa Park so I would highly encourage you stay for the day.
Around the Midway [ youtube video ]
Old San Diego and Coronado [ youtube video ]
Day Three: North San Diego Bay and La Jolla Sea Lion Cove [ youtube video ] ,
featuring lots of wildlife [ youtube video ] and
[ youtube video ]
and includes around La Jolla [ youtube video ] I highly recommend spending more time here. Parking can be an issue so I advise to come early, walk around, go get an early lunch, walk around.
Day 4 Four: North San Diego Bay (incl stand up paddlers) and Chicano Park [ youtube video ] I would not necessarily go back to Chicano Park especially being we're from Phoenix.
and the flight home [ youtube video ] was the main purpose for this triplog as I thot it was interesting to see the varied countryside below us all the way to Mexico. A lot of you are hiking on the west side of Phx so I thot you might be able to ID some of the landmarks both in the photoset and in the video. Ambika shot the pics and movies for the video as she had the window seat. For my next flight I'll be able to use a GPS system Chumley found for me so it will be interesting to see how that works.
|For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination. |
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
