I have a great deal of respect for his opinion, and I was finally able to try this out for myself. It was truly enjoyable. There was some snow and ice on the sheltered slopes and plenty of water. The trail, on the other hand, has deteriorated a bit since last year and could use some trimming in the upper reaches.
I opted to continue downstream in the creek but took a couple of bypasses since I don't typically carry rope. Time and daylight constraints forced me to skip my planned middle section. Took two nasty falls along the way. Pretty sure my hip will be fine after a week or two of rainbow bruising that hasn't even appeared yet. My arm though, might need some pro help. Hopefully not.
There's a lot of beautiful terrain in here. At the bottom of the last rappel there were three coati at the top of a tree. It's nice when a wildlife sighting can almost outdo the geology!
The cartels cut a pretty nice route though it's a little overgrown and there's a lot of side hill footing. Nonetheless, it's an exit that could have been a whole lot worse! |
