| no partners | | I got a little impatient with the traffic to the vista, but then left civilization behind and enjoyed the creek to myself. Most of Fish Creek Hill would still be passable with high clearance and 4WD except the total blockage about 200 yards up from the bridge, where several truck-sized boulders detached from
the canyon wall and repositioned themselves right in the middle of the road.
I tried to stay dry for the first mile or so, but hit “the” big boulder block, at which point I went all in and embraced the wet. In hindsight, I’d just embrace the creek from the get—go next time.
Ran into a couple of spots with quicksand, where my plant foot sunk clear up to my crotch. Not too hard to get out, but it kept me guessing whether my next step would be met with solid ground, or a “false floor.”
Couldn’t prescribe any better therapy for these pandemic-crazed times.
The late afternoon lighting in the canyon was beautiful.
*mileage and elevation gain are clearly off. #canyonlife |
