We hiked in from the bridge and went up about 3 miles. The usual "trail, what trail?" was there before us. I don't think I have hiked this place the same way any of the times I have been in here. Boulder hopping, cliff climbing, bushwhacking, that is what makes this place so great. It keeps out the masses with this tangled and twisted path.
The colors were popping, but based on all the leaves on the ground, we missed the peak by a week or two. Either way, it was still so beautiful. The weather was cloudy and gloomy. The sun did not make an appearance during the hike. We got a few sprinkles here and there, but no steady rain. That made for a cool and humid hike.
We did notice that some a**hole has taken a can of red spray paint to a few of the rocks and trees at the beginning. None past that, luckily. Whoever thinks spraying idiotic messages on the rocks in here is a good idea, I hope a boulder lands on you and does all of us a favor.
I will come back to this special place in the springtime to see the transformation again. Fish Creek is one of my favorites in the Supes for sure. |
