I wanted to go for a hike that was out of the valley yet not far. I’d never been to the Ballantine TH so I thought I’d give that a try.
I was hoping for solitude and got it for the most part. I saw a few people at the start and a few people at the finish. I didn’t see anyone else in between.
Love this little loop. I wouldn’t hike it mid-morning in June but the weather was accommodating today. The trail appears to be in good condition. Seems like it gets lots of boots on the ground. I started on the south end of the loop and finished on the less steep north end.
I went up the Ballantine Trail for a half mile, felt like continuing on but decided to keep it simple and turned around after half a mile.
I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was glad I made the trip. I will likely come back.
Gorgeous out today.

Plenty of lupine, some strawberry hedgehog, not much of anything else.
