| no partners | | I started at the cut out a quarter mile or so north of the Usery Park entrance, hiked up to the Maricopa Trail segment and took that north to the Bulldog Canyon parking area. I wanted a chance to warm up on an easy stretch before going up the hill.
Great visibility under partly cloudy skies. The trail is about perfect and I had it to myself for the most part. I passed a couple on the way up and a couple of moms with children on the way down, each time at the exact same spot along the trail.
I started to go across to the slightly higher peak to the east but there was too much noise for too little gain. Most of the poppies I saw today were along this short stretch before I turned around. A nice bonus.
On the way in today I thought about maybe doing a couple of laps up and down the little mountain. Not today, but maybe next time. Very good workout on a gorgeous day. |

Wildflowers Observation Light Strawberry hedgehog is evident everywhere you look. A fair amount of lupine, a few poppies higher up, a sprinkle of globemallow. Brittllebush is waning. |
