| no partners | | Getting to the rim using this route has intrigued me . I first saw this Boy Scout trail on a Camp LoMia Trail map circa 2004.
I've had a best guess traced route drawn up for quite some time. Today was the day.
Where the Wise Trail crosses the Bearfoot trail appears to have been purposefully obscured. Once you get 30' or so off of the bearfoot trail, it becomes fairly obvious, all the way to Mount Meg (Name given on Camp Lo Mia Map. AKA 6536) This is a pretty steep climb gaining more than 600' in less than .6 of a mile.
When I reached the top of Mount Meg, I searched for the route for the next leg, to get me to the rim. I know it goes there, because on a previous hike, I found the upper trailhead sign as well as one of the Boy Scouts red tags.
After looking around atop Meg with no luck and being solo on this hike, I thought I'd save the remaining 500' of gain for another day. In retrospect, I see where I need to look next.
I retreated down the Mount and went over to record where the lower TH begins at the Camp Lo Mia property.
The rest of the hike I just checked out a couple of side canyons off the Bearfoot Trail I'd been meaning to look at. |
