| no partners | | Smokey! I didn't know there was a fire in the area, but I managed to get onto the trail and do a little scouting. I only saw a night snake. The main entertainment was after the hike. I stopped at Taco Bell to get an egg burrito. A thin, elderly, big bearded, and unmasked man came up to me to tell me that the coronavirus was like HIV and not airborne. He stated that his senator (whoever that is) told him and that the government is lying to us.
My first thought was, "So why do you believe in that one senator who also works for the government?" He had that blank stare that is common with mentally ill folks, so I felt sorry for him and listened. He told me that the virus was spread by eating meat. I told me that I don't eat meat, except fish once in a while.
I tested him out by saying that I don't trust anything Trump says to see if he was just a extreme far-right winger, but he replied, "They all lie." He talked about service in Cambodia (not Vietnam) and how oil is controlled by Saddam Hussein (I don't think he knows that he's dead). It was evident to me that he lonely and wanted to be hear and feelings validated, like most people.
Because he had a bindi (Hindi forehead dot) and spoke about the perils of eating meat, I assume he wanted to push is vegetarian agenda over any political tribal affiliation. I'm not sure why he was supporting a restaurant who serves meat.
The good news here is that my hobby of looking for snakes seems a lot more normal now than what others are doing and thinking right now. |
