| no partners | | Decided to take a look at the new route for AZT #25 that bypasses Twin Buttes and gets the trail off the power line by cutting across Rock Creek and Alder Ridge and rejoins the current trail near East Tank.
Parked near Bee Tree Tank and headed west / southwest to check the trail from the Wilderness Boundary. At the boundary I realized the youth crew had already built some trail in the wilderness. I continued along the new trail for less than a mile and then headed back.
Next I headed east on the new machine built trail (outside the wilderness). The trail is excellent and really nice to walk along. Just before East Tank I see the excavator, the ATA 4runner, Shawn and Rob. They had just finished the whole of the trail outside the wilderness I didn’t know they were out here and if I was 10 minutes later I would have missed them! After chatting for quite a while I left to finish the just built trail and they headed home.
This is a really nice project and a definite improvement to the AZT alignment and gets the trail off the road/power line. |
