I have been wanting to hike up to Guthrie Peak since it has the most prominence of any peak in Greenlee County. After bagging this one, I have now hiked up to the most prominent peak in 13 of AZ's 15 counties -- still to go are Black Mesa-Kayenta and Newman Peak.

We parked and started the hike in a parking area on Guthrie Peak Road on Highway 191. We could have driven to the top, but what is the fun in that?

It was easy to make good time on the road, and it turned out to be a quick and enjoyable hike.
