| no partners | | I went out to the Lake Pleasant area and hiked up to both Pike's Peak and the Mill Benchmark.
We did the Walkin' Jim Loop CCW, and when we got to the junction with the Big Jim Trail we took the Big Jim Trail for a short distance before going off-trail to Pike's Peak and then the Mill Benchmark. When we were at the Mill Benchmark we started to go up to Peak 3392, but it would have taken longer than we wanted, so we decided to head back. We went back to the Big Jim Trail the same way that we came up. Once back on the Walkin' Jim Trail, we continued the loop back to the TH.
The off-trail portion seemed a bit easier than the other time that I did it. The 2nd half of the Walkin' Jim Trail was hard to follow in places, and I got way off course once, so don't follow my GPS track on this portion. The orientation on my GPS was screwed up, rendering the GPS almost worthless in following a track.
It was a nice day to be out there, although it got a bit warm on the hike back. We saw 7 burros in the early part of the hike, and heard several others braying. There were no sightings of other humans on the hike. |
