This Tucson Mountain park route starts at the trail head of the Hidden Canyon trail located near the main entrance of the Starr Pass resort.
The Hidden Canyon winds up the washes, crossed over on the left and then switch backs and wander to the ridge.
From here there are great views of Big Cat mountain and distant ranges to the south.
The trail continues down, down, down to the Bowen trail intersection. From here you will be in rolling Sonoran desert in beautiful Saguaro forest
Turn right on the Bowen trail and continue on to the Yetman trail where you will turn left. This will take you to the old Bowen stone ruin.
Continue on the Yetman trail to the saddle. To get to Second ridge take the unmarked trail on the left. At the top there is a magnificent 360 view of the surrounding mountains.
Backtrack to the Yetman trail at the saddle and look for and unmarked trail which trends east. This will take you back to the Bowen trail.
When you get to the Bowen Trail turn right to get back to the starting point. |
