Hiked the La Milagrosa Trail and returned on the Agua Caliente Ridge Trail. There are a few more homes being built along the start of the La Milagrosa and the lower end of the Agua Caliente Trails. The trail has been rerouted along a few sections outside of the National Forest, probably due to these new homes. The La Milagrosa Trail offers some great views of La Milagrosa Canyon. There was water in La Milagrosa where it pooled in the rocks, didn’t look like the creek ran at all. It will take a good amount of rain for that.
We took the crossover Trail from the La Milagrosa Trail that drops down into Agua Caliente Creek and climbs the south side of the Canyon to the Agua Caliente Ridge Trail. Agua Caliente Creek was dry with water pooling on rocks. Explored a little downstream from where the trail crosses the creek to the water fall 100 yards downstream. This is a major obstacle if walking up Agua Caliente Creek, not impassable but a challenge. The return trip along Agua Caliente creek is quite scenic with great views down into Agua Caliente Creek. Weather was perfect for hiking and in the light breeze, even a little cool. I spotted a trail while on the La Milagrosa Trail that was going up the ridge between Agua Caliente and La Milagrosa Canyons that I will have to check out. Maybe after the next couple of storms come in early this week. |
