| no partners | | Only two cars at the Meridian Trailhead when I arrived at 6:45 AM. It was still dark, but navigation was not an issue even without a headlamp. I was trail running, and scared the crap out of a woman and her male friend as I “snuck up“ behind them on the trail. She screamed, and I felt kind of bad, but I do try to make a fair amount of noise when I’m coming up on people. I guess she wasn’t paying attention until I got too close.
I took the trail in a counterclockwise loop, which meant that I didn’t run into much traffic till I was at the north end of the loop, and started to meet folks who it started at the Wind Cave Trailhead moving in a clockwise loop. Even then, traffic was pretty light.
Didn’t see any wildlife today, but it was a beautiful cool morning to get some fresh air in the lungs, and some dirt between the toes.
When I arrived back at the trailhead, the parking area was full and overflowing. |
