| no partners | | Having done a fairly strenuous hike the day before, I was looking for a fairly short hike to do before heading back to the VOS, and since I had never hiked on the Hermit Trail before, I decided to correct that oversight.
We took a shuttlebus to the TH, which took about 40 minutes.
I figured that Breezy Point would be a good destination, so we descended to there. Along the way we took a break at Santa Maria Spring. Once at Breezy Point we hung around for a while, and I noticed a rock formation down below us a bit, so we decided to hike down and check it out. Naturally we decided to climb up on it -- it was an easy climb with one class 3 move. It was fun to be on the rock, and I am glad that we decided to go a little farther than Breezy Point. I checked a topo map, hoping that the formation would be called "Cyclops Temple" or some such thing; sadly it was only marked "4422" on the topo map. So I guess that we climbed "Point 4422".
I enjoyed the Hermit Trail, and am already planning to go down to the river and back when I hike it next.
There were no other hikers on the trail, but we did see 3-4 backpacking groups. |
