The road to the TH was well graded -- I not would want to drive a sedan but an SUV with decent clearance and tires should be OK.
I enjoyed this hike -- it was on a forest road and the tread was mostly good, plus the grade was fairly modest for the most part. There were a couple of patches of snow near the top, but you could easily get around them by walking a couple of feet off the trail.
It was a good hike for wildlife. We saw a couple of mule deer on the drive in, and there were lots of marmots on the hike. On the way back we saw about 15 bighorn sheep who were not camera shy.
It was a bit windy on the hike which brought in some dust, which lessened the visability from the prior couple of days while we were in CA.
I thought that this was an enjoyable hike, and I would recommend it for anyone who is in the area. |
