I checked the weather forecast and it was hot in the Valley, but was cooler going north on the Beeline Highway, so off to the Slate Creek TH I went!

FR 27 keeps seeing some erosion from the recent monsoon rains, and I am guessing that the erosion is exacerbated by the burn scar from the Bush Fire.

It was a nice day for a hike -- all the way up to the summit it felt more like October than July. At the summit I would have put on a light jacket if I had one. It warmed up a bit over the last 3 miles or so, but it wasn't too bad.

I saw one small deer and a hummingbird, but that was it for wildlife. I did not see anyone else on the hike.

There are still some decent wildflowers on the lower 3-4 miles of the hike.
