Joe planned out this loop to take advantage of the tree cover keeping the fire orb at bay. It was only warm a couple times on the day. Clouds and a breeze kept it nice.
Nothing spectacular about this hike, just a good all around pleasant hike under mostly tree cover.
Hutch Mountain Lookout was the highlight.
The lookout is closed, but climbing the stairs provided the best views of the day.
Once off FR#135, all we saw was one biker and one backpacker on AZT #28. This was my first time on the rerouted section of AZT# 28. Great job @Sredfield and crew! We only saw one downed tree over the trail. We took part of the old alignment on the way back. There are still AZT signs along this section. |
