| partners | | | After trail run on Mormon Lake AZT section we drove down Lake Mary Road and took the dirt FS 294 road to Bargaman Park trail head. I've been wanting to hike Pine Mountain since doing the AZT in 2015 but never made the side trip. It's a short off trail hike to the summit from the Happy Jack AZT section. We followed the ridge line on the north slope to the summit. While on the ridge we noticed some new pink flagging tape on the trees to the summit. Maybe there are plans for a trail which would not be too difficult to put in from the looks of the terrain. A light rain started to fall as we approached the summit and once on top we had some decent views of the valley. It started to rain harder so we headed back down. This is the 3rd Pine Mountain summit we have hiked with the others being off Dugas Road and then the one by Four Peaks but there are probably more. It was by far the easiest of the three but also by far the least scenic. Still a good hike quick hike if you are in the area! |
