The first 1/3 was a good climb out of the valley, and I grabbed a radio and let Dirk move ahead of me. There were a few joggers on the trail coming down. I found a tree growing from a rock, but on the side view you can see the rock split in two. There were some great views of the San Fransico's to the North. We me at the top of the hill where the trail moved west on a ridge affording some sweet views of Elden. We moved across the ridge and found a nice long log that was cut for the trail to have a snack on. It was a nice zuchini bread that I baked.
We set out after a nice break to finish the trail that at this point moved into forest and found ourselves in the middle of a long spread out clan of mountain bikes. The bikers and we took turns passing each other in between some of the cranky switchbacks in the trees before we hit some open meadows where they took an other trail. The rest of the trail was mostly wide jeep trail, going down an easy grade, back to the trailhead.
This was a great day to be out of the heat, a nice breezy 80 was just what I needed! |
