| no partners | | | 5 star hike, this was outstanding. This trail approaches Mount Elden from the North starting at Schultz Pass, follows the ridgeline of Elden, and eventually connects to the Elden Lookout Trail. Begins in some of the most densely forested sections of trail I've seen, then switchbacks up this really nice area with huge boulders around you where it meets the Heart Tr, then comes the ridgeline part where you have a completely toasted section down below to the east, but densely forested slope to your west. Before connecting with Elden Lookout Tr, you have to go drop down to an exposed area and I was almost knocked sideways off my feet from how powerful the wind gusts were here. Final mile or so passes through lots of Aspen and then you're at the turnoff for the tower |
