As far as the upper canyon goes this really is one of the only non technical entry/exits, as the heart of CPC is guarded by some pretty impressive red rock cliffs around most of its perimeter.
The game trail was it’s steepest and had the loosest footing during the upper sections through the oak thickets but once in the pine stringer halfway down the tread became more manageable.
Once down in the canyon it was pretty slow going with constant maneuvering around pools and deadfall but nothing to stop one in their tracks.
It was tempting to proceed further but unless making the journey all the way to “Vine Canyon” or the confluence there is only one sane way back out.
After making it back to the rim I spent some time wandering around the flats enjoying some foot friendly ground until sunset. |
