Trail conditions were a little sloppy and wet on the eastern half of the rim but other than that almost ideal.
Stayed dry at all the big creek crossing thanks to downed trees or makeshift bridges that weren’t there the year prior.
So many variances on this trails distances across websites and apps but after completing it in one go I can confirm it’s a solid 58 mile trail, I veered off trail a couple hundred feet throughout the day but other than that stayed right on track and when I arrived at the Pine TH my gps was a tad over the 58 mile mark so I decided to make it the full 60 and declined my ride and walked the rest of the way home all the way to my cabin in Pine to finish off a memorable day.
5:30am start to just after midnight finish, 19 hours of solitude and besides my two “aid stations” from my kind friends and family at Tonto and Chase Creek I did not encounter another human the entire day.
Love this trail and grateful to call The Highline my home. |
