I started this hike just to "see" the ruins. I pass the sign for them every time I head to other trail heads. I parked in the far lot and walked back down the road to the trail head and then did the loop. It was windy today and it felt nice. After the ruin loop I walked back to the parking lot and picked up the nature trail which is a mile +/- that rises up about to a small mesa and offers some rather remarkable views of the Cargodera canyon and the Catalina's.
After doing the loop, I descended back to the trail heads and did the canyon loop in reverse including a slight detour to the Montrose pools. The water that was there two weeks ago is all but gone except for one small pool.
This park is usually pretty quiet during the week and not a lot of hikers but today the lot was full with cars from several colder climate states. I saw several sets of flip flops and open toed sandals, oh well. A nice morning enjoying the breeze.
