| no partners | | | This loop hike with my son-in-law and grandson started at our campsite in the Aspen CG, proceeding to the Woods Canyon Lake Spillway, then down Woods Canyon for 2 miles before exiting the canyon and heading southwest to the Rim Vista Trail. We then followed the vista trail 0.7 miles to the Rim Lakes Vista Site before heading more-or-less north back to our campsite. The best part of this loop were the scenic views along the 2 miles following the creek. We chose to exit the canyon following a gps track recorded by HAZ intrepid explorers @The_Eagle and @joebartels on 8/19/2019. Their track led us to a massive and impassable, in my opinion, deadfall. A problem not uncommon when following one of their tracks. Our young pathfinder was not deterred and led us up an alternate path to the canyon rim. Back at camp Michael mentioned that the climb out of the canyon was his favorite part of the hike. (Thanks, Bruce and Joe) |
