With all the wild storms pounding southern Arizona lately, I figured I might get to experience one of those firsthand by spending the night there. While that didn't happen, there were some nearby, including one around Sierra Vista Sunday afternoon that produced quarter-sized hail. They got close to where I was, but I probably jinxed it!
I chose to spend the night at Hotel San Ramon, but the experience was not to my liking (computer TV that I couldn't figure out how to operate and caused me to miss the Dodger game on ESPN, plus wifi I was unable to use because the password didn't work). I was the only one lodging there that night, so after I checked in, the person closed the lobby and went home, and I was unable to contact them about these issues.
I had arrived in town earlier in the day, and had fun walking around and stopping at Old Bisbee Brewing Company for beer and conversation. I also checked out Eldorado Suites Hotel on the hill above Brewery Gulch, and that is where I should have paid a few bucks more to stay, as it has a terrific view out, compared with the very confined quarters at San Ramon. Next time that is where I will stay, especially since once long ago (1970's) I crashed there for a night with an old hippie friend who rented there when it was the Brooks Apartments.
After I got tired of trying to figure out the "TV" in my room, I headed over to the Copper Queen Bar to see if they might have it on, but no. That place has really been going downhill in recent times, based on TripAdvisor reviews I have seen. I didn't feel like going to St Elmo, so just went back to Old Bisbee Brewing for awhile before calling it a night.
Next morning I walked over to Bisbee Coffee Company and purchased a bag of beans to take home. Normally, I get whole bean, but in this case I had them grind the beans, since I planned on going over to Coronado National Memorial for a visit on my way back to Tucson, and since I had my camping gear in the RAV, I figured a stop at the nice picnic area there to brew a cup would be pleasant (it was ).
Before leaving the Bisbee area, I stopped for breakfast at the Bisbee Breakfast Club in Lowell, always a solid choice. |
