| no partners | | The rain finally ceased as I sat in the Sabino parking lot, so off I went to check out the creek. Watching the Pima county flood website, I knew I wouldn’t be able to cross the creek anywhere. First stop was Sabino Dam, which was a muddy, frothy torrent at 1250 cubic feet per second. I joined the other flood gawkers. Very impressive, but the high water debris was several feet higher from this morning, when there was 3x the amount of water coming down the canyon. Would have liked to have seen that. Walked through rattlesnake alley, up the Bluff Trail, and then onto Sabino Canyon Road proper. The first crossing was my turn around, again a freight train of chocolate water. Went up Rattlesnake Canyon a bit before retracing my steps. Took the Bear Canyon road back for a tiny bit more elevation. |
