| no partners | | After work hike and first time on Greens Peak. Parked at the northern base of Greens Peak off FR 117 and started up the unmarked trail (old closed road). Still some lingering snow drifts among the spruce-fir. Made less of a snow angel than a snow lobster thing. Heard a hermit thrush and saw a herd of elk on the way up. Hit the top of the super steep ridge a bit before sunset and went down the southern side on the road for a bit. Amazing views, beautiful sunset, and chilly breeze. Still a good bit of snow on the upper Sunrise ski runs. Returned the same way, followed by dinner at El Patron in Pinetop. Great little trail and glad I did this one. |
