Beautiful, cool day with puffy clouds called for a mountain top after work hike. Started on Mint Spring Trail and took it to Marshall Saddle. Mint Spring wash was flowing well. Bracken ferns are starting their late-summer/early fall fade I think. Climbed Aspen Trail, where the wildflowers really kicked in on the switchbacks below Radio Ridge. Took my time along here to enjoy the chilly air and meadow gold. Checked out more flowers around the top of the ski lift, then made my descent at sunset on Radio Ridge route. Some flowers along here, too. Made the trailhead at dark, wishing I could spend the night up there. |
