This is a drive-up. I parked about a mile short and walked the rest of the way, gaining the final 500 feet on foot. But rest assured, it's a boring road walk that you should probably just drive in any vehicle that can handle a rough, rocky, dirt road surface.

This is reportedly the highest point in the Chuska Mountains, though it seems much of the range is a plateau in the 8000-8500 foot range with a number of isolated bumps that rise over 9000 including this one. (There are four separate peaks less than 300 feet lower than this one within a couple miles.)

There's a tower farm on top and the benchmark and one reference mark remain in place. The second reference mark was nailed to a juniper tree in 1949. I didn't know that during my visit, but I doubt that tree -- or the mark -- exists anymore.

This is a one n' done for me. There are other peaks in this range that would be far more interesting to climb than this road walk, and feature as good (or better) views in a much more wild, natural setting.
