There's a lot of private property in the canyon and the trail follows Spring Creek and Routt County Road 34. It's a dirt road that is open only to the property owners upstream, so while there could possibly be motor vehicle traffic, it's not common.
It seems that conflicts with users have refined the routes in the canyon and there are now options for mountain biking, downhill biking only, foot travel only, and multiuse paths. In some places these various routes parallel each other within a dozen feet or so which is strange to see, but it keeps those persnickety mtnbikers from having to share their trail with anybody else. Apparently another of their peeves is the lazy folks who like motors because ebikes are prohibited here. Common ground is found.
I wasn't really feeling it and the scenery didn't really meet my expectations, so I turned back after about 4 miles and headed back home for predinner wine and hors d'oeuvres in front of the fire. |
