| partners | | Day hike into White Canyon Wilderness from the north side access. We drove the road part way before it got rough and parked. Hiked the road until it drops into one of the feeder canyons to the main canyon. Just before the main canyon there is a pour off that forced us around high right which was cool route. The rock formations in this part were great and views down into the canyon.
Eventually were found the drop to the canyon floor. In the bottom there were many pools and some the creek was flowing. We stopped for the lunch break at the confluence of the main canyon and a side drainage that also had water. Several pools were pretty deep probably 5 or 6 feet.
After the break we hiked up canyon to see the narrows that we bypassed because of the pour off. Made it to the pour off before hiking back through the narrows. Instead of going back the same way we hiked the left side of the canyon this time to make a mini loop out of it. Eventually we linked back to the original route and hiked back to the vehicle the same way.
Great area to explore and definitely would like to have more time. Some of the side drainages look interesting to check out as well. |
