West on Ford Canyon, which had a lot of toppled saguaros in the area. One of my favorite saguaros is still standing, but nearly dead, kind of a bummer. Started to drizzle on our way uphill. Never needed a rain jacket, but the smooth granite in the canyon did get a little slick. Still, a fun hike up the canyon.
Headed east on Willow Canyon, stopping at the spring. No water in the pool at the base of the waterfall, and the spring itself was dry. I don’t recall ever seeing it completely dry since I’ve been coming out here since around 1990 or so. After that we continued down Willow, then Mesquite to finish out the loop. Saw several hikers in the final mile of Mesquite. The constant drizzle we’d had since Ford Canyon finally turned to a light rain just as we were getting back to the parking lot. Nice loop fir the day, and great weather. |
