| no partners | | Did another route variation on this nice peak right next to the ocean. Amazing views. From my parking location, I walked some of the sandy roads going West. Eventually the roads end and you will see various use trails. I continued until I went about 1 mile, then made a right turn and climbed up a rocky canyon which wasn't too steep. Eventually, I made it to the ridgeline. I walked the ridgeline and bit to the West just to take a few photos and see where it went. Then, I turned around, heading East. I took the ridgeline past 2 zipline platforms and then to the summit where I found a cross. I left a jar right near the cross on the ocean side, under a few rocks. I don't ever remember seeing a registry here but this nice peak deserves one. I continued East down the rocky ridgeline and eventually made it down to the sand again. Overall it was a pleasant hike but the rock can be
a bit unstable and brittle at times. If you take some caution, it can be a very enjoyable and safe hike. There is really no considerable exposure on any of the scrambling.
Driving directions: From the Sandy Beach resorts area, drive North then turn left onto Blvd. Paseo de la Duna. This road will take you to the town of La Choya. Continue until you see the Rocky Point Ziplines. Take a left onto a good sandy road after this business. At some point I turned my 4x4 on which is recommended to drive much further. I drove several hundred feet to get closer to the ocean but this isn't absolutely necessary because this can be easily walked. Park somewhere off the road. See my route for more info.
