| no partners | | Drove down to the Horseshoe Dam area to do some hiking and find some geocaches. Original plan was biking one of the forest roads, but that did not work out, so I drove down to the boat launch. Followed the shoreline the headed up the mountain to some native american ruins. Should've worn pants as my legs were badly scratched by the time I made it to the ruins. Followed the mountains spine back down to the maintenance shed then followed an old jeep trail around it to the road.

Hopped back into my truck and drove to the Bureau of Reclamation buildings and hiked up to the ridge line. Passed the old landing strip and eventually made my way to the old water tower. Circa 1964. Headed back down to the truck then hiked under the dam and wandered around on the other side for a bit.

SRP was finishing up their work on the dam and came over the check on me. They offered my a body armor drink and said "stay hydrated, there's no cell service out here." I was finishing up at this time anyways, but still accepted the drink. It was the peach mango flavor, it tasted pretty good.
Had fun, found six geocaches, and found some cool structures too. |
