| no partners | | Getting in some final prep hikes with my wife for our upcoming R2R. We are in Cedar City, visiting family, and decided to do a morning climb up to the "C" on the mountain above the city.
The trail is convenient, starting just on the edge of town. The trail is well groomed and climbs steadily over 4.4 miles to the top of the C.
The trail ascends through pine, cedar, scrub oak, and other foliage with nice views and rest benches at various intervals, each of which has a plaque telling you how far you are from the top and the bottom of the trail.
You can also drive to the top of the C and do the hike as a down and up adventure, which would probably have been the best way for us to tackle it as an R2R training hike.
Temps were perfect. We were on the trail around 5:50 am, and back by 9:35.
Great views of the city and of the sun coming up through Cedar Canyon to the north. Very convenient for some quick AEG. |
