| no partners | | In all my hiking in the Supes, I've never overnighted ... until now. Had an evening family event, so we didn't make it to the TH until about 9:45 pm. With the rain from earlier in the day and a near-full moon, the temps and ambiance were perfect. And of course the solitude was complete.
We arrived at the Flatiron shortly after midnight and set up camp in a nice spot a little to the south of the point (so as to be in good position for the sunrise, and to distance a bit from expected traffic on Saturday morning).
We awoke to a nice sunrise and drizzling rain all around (but not on us). Had a lovely breakfast and then the sprinkles began.
We hopped back in the tent and enjoyed a steady rain for about an hour, while we relaxed and got a little more shut eye.
After the rain stopped, we packed up and took the standard route down.
Several folks on the trail, but I'm sure the morning rain discouraged much larger crowds. |
