| no partners | | This was my 1st time here. I heard about an area called "Enchanted Hills Trails Park" which is part of Tucson Mountain Park. I hiked every major peak in the Tucson mountains and several hills, but apparently not this one until today. All of the trails in this park and good trails and there is a trail that goes to the summit of Enchanted Peak. There are signs at the major junctions along the way and it would be difficult to get lost as long as you had a photo of the trail map.
I waited until it warmed up a bit and I arrived a little after 11 am. My main goal was the peak but I also wanted to walk on most of the major trails on the way out and way back. I did pretty good in terms of trail coverage. The only trails I didn't use were one connector trail called High Noon (East side of the park) and 2 loop trails off to the West called the Kain trail and the Wild West trail. It would be possible to get to the peak and back in probably 3 miles or so, but because I hiked it the scenic way, my total distance was over 5 miles.
Trails taken to get to peak: El Grupo Loop Trail, Rift Trail, Fire 7 Trail, Tecolote Trail, Enchanted Peak Trail
Overall the trails and climb to the peak were pretty easy. The final few hundred feet going to the summit involved some upper class 2. I didn't need to use my hands but a little care should be taken to avoid sliding on the very upper portion of the trail. At the summit, there was a sign that pointed out many of the major peaks looking East, such as Tumamoc Hill, Sentinel, and many of the major high points in the Catalinas mountains.
