Starting off you will see a paved path going North on the West side of Sorrel Ln. You will also see a gravely road or path heading Northwest branching off from the paved path. I followed this path and within a minute I saw some trash on the left side. Several cardboard boxes and some kind of wooden cabinet structure. It's amazing what people dump in certain places.
Anyway, I continued up the gravel path. After a few minutes I saw a sign that said "private property. no trespassing", but no gate, no fence, etc. If I saw any houses or private buildings I would probably have turned around. My initial thoughts were this was government property and they didn't want the liability of being sued if someone was injured on their property. In my mind, I signed my own liability waiver. Anyway, I pretended I was a wild animal for the next 30 minutes and decided to proceed with caution. I kept going until I reached the summit. At the summit, I saw some satellite dishes, solar panels, and a few cameras. I didn't touch anything of course. The owner's understandably don't want any damage or vandalism to their property.
Most other mountains with antennas and other equipment have fences enclosing the equipment and signs on the fence saying "no trespassing". Doing it that way is a better approach in my opinion, because it still allows people to walk the trail, explore the mountain, and get the needed exercise. Maybe this is something they will implement in the future.
Anyway, it was an enjoyable hike. On the way down I took the same trail down about 500 feet. Then, I branched off to the right and did an open country hike down. There were no signs on the way down going this way.

I drove a motorcycle and was able to park in a dirt area off the road.
If you're driving a car, you'll need to find somewhere around here to park.
There is a residential neighborhood to the East that could be 1 good option. |
