I could have driven to this "high point" but I decided to make an adventure out of it and start at the Pascua Yaqui Pueblo Park. This is a place I've never been before. The only time I've ever been on this reservation was for a party at the Casino on Valencia. Not even sure what the casino is called there.

Anyway, I parked in the lot and the whole place was pretty empty on a Friday early afternoon. There were 1 or 2 other cars there and spaces for at least 100 cars. I walked on some of the paths at the park and crossed over to the Southwest side of the park. By the way, the park has fields for baseball, picnic areas with BBQ grills, tables, and covered gazebos, basketball courts, and an extensive playground.

From the edge of the park there were dirt roads and trails going South and then West. The trails are pretty sandy and in some places, it's like walking on the beach. There's a fence running East-West just South of this point and that marks the boundary with the San Xavier reservation.

When I got to the high point, all I saw was some kind of govt building on the P.Y. side. There was a big sign on the Xavier side that said no trespassing. One thing I learned is the Pascua Yaqui's are a very inviting and friendly tribe. I wish I could find that Pascua Yaqui girl I once knew. She was quite adorable.

After I made it back to the park it was already about 2 pm so I stopped to have a late lunch at a picnic table. There was no real challenge to this hike. It was all about exploring a new area and getting a little exercise...
