| no partners | | I parked at the lot (last space!) around 1 pm. I found a use trail heading North going toward the Bajada Wash trail. The use trail disappeared so I just ended up doing an open country hike North and eventually intersected with the Bajada Wash trail. Once in the wash, I turned right going East/Northeast. I followed the wash past 2 junctions, staying left at each junction. At a certain point, the wash got quite narrow and a good maintained trail exited the wash and continued in the same direction. After hiking a total of 1 mile, the trail exited to a wide wash. I continued for another 500 feet turned left and started climbing the slope toward Apache peak.
I wasn't aware of any trails on this mountain, so I just started doing an open Country hike up the slope. After hiking roughly 750 feet, I found an obvious trail with switchbacks going UP. I followed this good trail for 0.2 miles to the peak. At the peak there were some nice views of Wasson peak and the Tucson mountains looking East. I did not see a registry up here and wish I brought a jar since I have about 20 in my garage. I took some photos and a video at the peak, then started to head down the trail.
This time I wanted to take the trail all the way down to see where it went. I followed the trail for about 0.45 miles and the trail seemed to disappear. Along the way, there were a few tricky areas. The trail was a bit overgrown and it was necessary to go around a few bushes/trees that were growing on the trail, but overall it was a pretty good trail up to this point. At this point, I was almost at the bottom and it was easy to walk down to the wash. I walked back down to the wash and turned right.
This time I walked in the wash around Apache peak until I ran into the Bajada Wash trail. Once I got back to this trail, I took it all the way back to the parking area.
