john arranged for us to spend a couple nights in vail
he also agreed to drop me off the start of passage 5 at gardner canyon road, then hike in to meet me from the north end
i got started around 0615
cool temps to start with
rolling grassland hills with a nice view of mount wrightson
half the hike on single track, half on double track or forest service roads
met up with john at just over eight miles in
finished up around 1045 as temps were warming up
didn't see anyone the entire hike, except for the two people staying at the b & b at kentucky camp
very pleasant segment
happy to get this one done
still need passages 1 and 9 to fill in some gaps in southern arizona
