| no partners | | Thanks to Michael A. for posting the first known route for this hike. These peaks are not well known and nice to do if you've done everything else in the area.
Note: I hiked this in conjunction with the nearby peak 3166 and also stopped by to see the Bowen stone house.
There was a cairned trail that went from the Yetman trail up to peak 3137. You need to look carefully so you don't walk right by it. It was a pretty good trail but there were a few places where I lost the trail but then found it again. There really are a few good ways to go.
At the summit we found an old registry in an ammo box. We found entries as old as 2011. The last entry was Michael A's entry from March.
There were some nice views of the surrounding area on top. We were not able to see the stone house from here. It seems like that's only possible from the edge of the ridge.
From here, after taking a water break, we continued toward peak 3166.

Follow Google maps to 'Camino de Oeste trailhead'.
Take I-10 to the Tucson area.
Take exit 256 toward Grant Rd.
Continue West on W Grant Rd. for roughly 1.2 mi
At Wells Fargo Bank, continue onto W Ironwood Hill Dr. for 2.9 mi
Turn left onto N Camino De Oeste
Continue on paved road for 1.5 miles.
road turns to dirt/gravel (OK for typical sedan)
Continue on dirt/gravel road for roughly 0.3 miles.
Destination will be on the right.
There should be parking for about 10 cars.
Arrive early on the weekend for a good parking spot. |
