From parking area, find gravel road heading North. You'll need to go around a metal gate. Walk a few hundred feet straight and then look for a trail leading West. Take the trail leading West/Northwest and it will take you to a wash in about 1/4 miles. Once in the wash, turn right and follow it until you have traveled a total of 0.85 miles. Look for a smaller wash heading West. Turn left and continue for about 400 feet. At this point you will want to exit the wash on the North side and head up to the low saddle above you. From that point you will follow the ridge to the high point. There is a class 3 climb near the very end that is not that difficult.

I found some interesting rock formations in the washes and some colorful rocks with purple and green colors. The washes are mostly sandy with some rocky areas to walk through or around. Heading to the saddle and along the ridge you'll see a lot of lava rock and dry rock. I found most of it to be stable and not crumbly but always take caution on the steep areas.

On the way back, I decided to take a different route. After coming down from the saddle, I met a guy in the smaller wash who frequented the area and he told me about an arrow he found that went through a saguaro cactus. He didn't remember exactly where it was but we walked about 1/4 mile West in the wash and found it shortly before exiting the wash to the trail. The arrow appeared to be all metal and was about 15 feet above the ground. I've seen another arrow through a saguaro cactus not far from the Bowen house, in a messy canyon, about 1/4 to 1/2 mile away from it.

The hike to Striped Hill was enjoyable and it's just another one of those hidden areas of Tucson Mountain Park.

Stats:
--------
Distance (round trip) = 3.3 miles
AEG = 716 feet
Strava moving time = 1 hr 50 mins
Strava elapsed time = 2 hrs 50 mins

Driving directions: From Tucson, take I-10 to Grant and go West from the highway. After 1.2 miles Grant Rd is renamed to Ironwood Hills. Continue for 2.9 more miles until the road ends. Turn left on Camino de Oeste and continue for 0.6 miles. Turn right on Trails End Rd and continue for 1.1 miles. Park on the right side of the road at a pullout. You should be just West of the Cooper Center for Environmental Learning which is on the South side of the road. Look for a gravel road heading North into Tucson Mountain Park. This is where you'll want to start your hike.
