| partners | | I hiked the southern part of AZT28 Happy Jack with Wally way back in '18 or '19. During my next trip to continue northbound, I found out that it was just been rerouted. I finally made my way back here after hiking the north part of this passage. We drove in on FR211 and FR82 to where the AZT crosses FR82 and headed north to where we left off 2 weeks ago from Bargaman Park. I had hiked all of the AZT south off FR82, so we saved a large rehike by driving in on FR82. Where the AZT meets AZT28 there are places you can park.
The weather was clear but cold to start. It warmed up quickly once the sun hit us. The start of the trail was kind of rocky but got better after we passed the spot where I saw we started the new alignment. I loaded the current alignment of the AZT with what I hiked 6+ years ago, so I had an idea of where we were and what we had done.
After the turnaround spot we hiked SB a bit and stopped where I spotted 2 cut log segments that were perfect lunch seats. After that we made our way back to the TH.
On our way out we saw 2 thru hikers. No living wildlife, but saw an elk skeleton. While we saw that we could hear bulls bugling nearby. |
