| no partners | | We parked off First Water Rd. and went for a quick hike up to Praying Hands since Angela hadn't been there before. It was a beautiful, calm day when we left, but by the time we got to the top, the wind was gusting so hard it felt like you were being shoved around.
Considering that, we were astonished to see three climbers on their way to the top of the Hands. We went over the saddle along the ridge to find a better vantage point and watched them for about a half an hour. At the very top of the group was a woman who moved around up there like a mountain goat. She was amazing! I took some great photos and wanted to leave a note with their stuff at the bottom to contact me if they wanted them. I didn't have pen and paper, so I asked Angela if I could borrow hers then she wrote them a note instead. I would have liked seeing them rappel down, but their progress was slow with the wind and it would have been a couple more hours, so we just headed back down.
There weren't very many people out for a Saturday, even thought the temp was ideal... I guess because the Snowbirds have gone home and the snakes have 'come home'. Didn't see any, though (Snowbirds or snakes!) |
